more JBS June09 kit...

IMG_1443

I did a couple of extra pages on Friday with the rest of my JBS June kit.

I really wanted to use the butterflies & straight pins on one layout. I used the glimmer mist on the doodlebug edge scallop(it was bright green)-all apart of the kit. Printed some journaling on vellum...the smaller words above giggles & flutter-laughter & float.

IMG_0892x1_filteredc

comes with a high price. What should be free I have to pay. Especially, when it comes to Amira! So grandma I hope you are happy!!

Daddy was not to thrilled with these photos of his 12yr old baby girl...he was more like-burn them NOW!!

And don't even get me started on this one...her poses scare me!! She has a lot of attitude(on camera, not necessarily IRL-lol).

Now I have to pay with letting them buy outfits for their Little Big Planet characters on the PS3-argh!! They are so crazy about this weird game.

Way cool on the boy/masculine pages. Keep 'em coming, maybe once a week or month? I just love your layouts regardless of boy or girl! Thanks!

How about I'll put this offer out...I'll scrap a page for one of you all once a month?! I'll pick a random visitor from my comments once a month-either boy or girl. I'll do a posting called "I'll scrap for YOU" once a month and I will pick a winner to scrap one page for. Sounds good? And I will start with you Terry A!! So send me a photo or two and I will have a page for you next week. klcards@aol.com

This page I did of my husband while we were at The Temple of Heaven in Beijing China last summer. He always has to talk when I am trying to take his photo, argh!! I seem to be loving my star & arrow punches for these pages! I had to add the Heidi Swapp ghost letters this morning...that space seemed too plain. And I didn't want to add anything overwhelming-so I went with my ghost letter stash(i am a bad hoarder). Here is the page w/o the letters:

Smirk page products: MM Just Chillin boys line pps(brown dot, blue star); Stampin Up circle stamps, and arrow punch; Heidi Swapp circle letter; Pebbles journaling card...Sorry for the typo in the journaling on the page...it sound say "with that smirk it is how you'll go down in history-still funny?"
I didn't want to fill in the card yet. Because I knew I would hate my writing, lol. I always do-but I will fill it in...the photo was taken at a park in Beijing across from the old American embassy.

Hi Keisha~ Love all of your layouts posted but am taken by "photo notes". There's just something about vellum of which I'm going to start using more often now that you've inspired me to do so. I'm much like you in the sense that my layouts can take hours to days to complete. I also walk away from them and return much later with a new idea/renewed vision. When I have a mental block and not much inspiration I will scour my favorite scrappers online for inspiration and for templates to get me kick started. I love Pencil Lines website for templates which inspire me when in a block. Even Card-A-Licious's website inspires me for my 12x12 layouts. I'm still puttering in finding my own DNA in the layout design phase but am on my way. Thank you for sharing your talent with us :)

Yes, Brandi...get a new love for vellum!! I really love to use it-it hasn't always been that way.

Layouts as usual are stunning & always such stunning photos!!! Your girls are beautiful. Do you tend to use many actions before publishing your photos?? (they are very photogenic but the photos always seem to pop??!!!) Thanks for all your inspiration. Love it. Mel

Thanks Mel! I do use actions on all my photos...there are links to photography blogs that I have got my actions from on the right side. I really love Maggie's and Leah's-but they all have great actions.

Love the layouts! You have such a classy style and I love how you incorporate stamps on your layouts. Love the pics of your little girl. I have a 13 year old who will not stand still or avoids me at all costs when i have my camera in hand. She does have some days that I catch her in a decent mood and she lets me shoot a few. My 8 yo dd and 4 yo ds just love the camera, I know not for long, lol. Kat

Oh, Kat...I think I am going to have to pay Amira(she's 12) this weekend for a few photo's!! Or pay Kiela so that she will get jealous and offer her services if I pay her too, lol!! I am so desperate at this point when it comes to my Mira.

How long does it take you to make a layout like the above??? What's your creative process???

Hello Jane & T-Wan....your question was made about the May 2 Happy NSD post...time varies for me on every project. I can do a page in an hour. Usually it takes me HOURS to days to months to finish a page. The two layouts from that post took me a day to finish. I usually walk away from my layouts throughout the day to do things around the house. And to give myself a chance to think about what I could do next-that really helps. Often I think about things for more than one day. If I am really excited about how a page is going...or if I am really excited about the products I am working with-I do more than one page in a day. I am an overthink{er}...the simplest pages can take me hours to finish. I also stand back and study my layouts. I may sit them on the floor or prop them up to get a different view. I may take a photo of them to see how my balance is going. I don't plan ahead...I just go with an idea that evolves!!

You take such beautiful photos! (you do have gorgous subjects mind you!) What camera do you use?

Hi Cathy...a Canon XSI & XTI!!

Your blog is wonderful! What gorgeous girls you have! Your scrapbook pages are the best. I love them all. I had a question about one of your layouts. The Summer Palace page. Did you use a punch on the bottom of the gray paper (circle with dots above)? If so, which punch is it? Thank you for sharing your many talents with us!!

Happy Mother's day to all...

IMG_8880x2c She is one of the reasons why this is my day!! I hope you all have a great day!

I'll be back to answer questions & a challenge question for a boy layout-yikes...Monday or Tuesday.

Kiela is always easy to convince into taking photos for me. Even though she doesn't want to!! Mira is not so kind to me. This is why Kiela is always here!! Saturday I asked her to take a few quick ones at the house across the street from us-no one lives there. And it has the prettiest flower bushes.

On Friday...there were hundreds of caterpillars in the street. I have never seen so many all in the street before. Once I told Kiela they didn't bite she was picking them up...letting them crawl across her arm. She love how they tickled!

She noticed a bee in the flowers-it shows on her face...and she was gone.

The deer!! I tried to get a few photos of them from the deck while they were in the woods behind our house. It wasn't easy.
